Balls are
the simplest, regular formed packing elements. Packing with balls has a
comparatively small surface per packed volume. Because of the low void
fraction of the packing, the pressure drop is quite high.Balls are normally
used as catalysts carrier and to smooth flows.
Cylindric
rings are the simplest form of the standard tower packing.
Production is possible out of almost any material. The surface of the rings
is 30% higher than the surface of cylinders or of balls. The elements have a
high mechanical stability and are normally used in applications, where they
have been proved for years.
Saddles
are standard tower packing. Besides the smooth surface, a good
chemical resistance and a high stability of the single packing element is
realized. Because of the simple geometry, a cheap prodution of saddles is
possible. Ceramic saddles are suitable for destillation, especially while
operating with acids. They are often used for heat storage in thermal
oxidizers.
RMSR
(Rauschert Metal Saddle Rings) offer big connected shapes for
good wetting properties - resulting in better mass transfer at a smaller
hydraulic diameter compared to Pallrings. Due to the open and modern grid
structure, the pressure drop is much smaller.
Raflux
rings (Pall rings) are standard tower packing. The open
structure ensures a regular flow through the packing and lowers the pressure
drop. Raflux-Rings are made of ceramics, plastics and metals. Raflux-Rings
made from plastic or metal allow high gas velocities combined with a good
separation efficiency.
Exlon rings
belong to the group of the Raflux-packing elements. They are
produced of PTFE and therefore they have an excellent resistance to
chemicals and a good mechanical stability at high temperatures. This packing
is produced in a newly developed manufacturing process.
The Hiflow
rings® are high performance tower packing. The strong lettice
type provides high mechanical stability together with a very high void
fraction. The low weight and the mechanical stability enable high packed
heights without packing supports. High capacity of gas and liquid flow rates,
extremely low pressure drop, very low wall flow and low sensitivity to
pollution and fouling characterize the Hiflow-Rings®.
If Hiflow-Rings® replace conventional tower packing, then the flow rates
in existent columns can be considerably increased or the energy consumption
can be strongly reduced.
In the wastewater treatments and
exhaust air purification more and more biological processes are used.
Special carriers are needed to support the growth of microbiological
coatings. With the help of the chemical engineers, adapted packing elements
for these processes have been developed, which in respect of surface,
geometry and material correspond to the special demands.
Random elements as well as structured sections are used in biological
treatment plants. For processes with circulated carrier in a tank we provide
the BIOLOX and BIOFLOW.
